How to Author a Table in ACSF as intended
Header Rows:
You must set a header row for your table to avoid an accessibility issue on your site. Do not use a header column. The two options for setting a Header Row are: Header Row WITH Search and Pagination (3a) or Header Row WITHOUT Search and Pagination (3b). Use one or the other but not both.
Header Row with Search and Pagination:
With this option, the first-row text is bold, first row is darker shading, and search / pagination functionality will be available for the user. If using this option, do NOT change the cell background color in cell properties.
To use this option:
- Place your cursor in the first row
- Click the Row Icon Dropdown Arrow
- Toggle Header Row On
Header Row without Search and Pagination:
With this option, the first-row text is bold, first row is darker shading, and search / pagination functionality will NOT be available for the user. If using this option, do NOT toggle Header Rows on.
To use this option:
- Place your cursor in the first row, make sure Header Row is Toggled OFF
- In EACH cell of the first row: Place the cursor in the cell and click the cell properties drop down.
- Cell Properties Background Color Picker: In the Cell Properties pop up, click on the Background Color Picker and Select a color (color does not matter, it will be a formatted Gray)
- Click the Green Save Checkmark to save
- Repeat Steps 3-4 for EACH cell in the first row.
Business Rule
Page 195 of the User Guide:
Only one table should be added per WYSIWYG Frame. It is recommended to use tables on Pages only, rather than the other page types. Tables should only be used to present data.
Note to testers: the INTENDED use is included in the business rule above. Testing any other way may skew test results in a way that we are not interested in 'fixing'. Please author tables as they are INTENDED to be used.
